Take That Tour Features Giant Human Figure, Brought to “Life” by Brilliant Stages

LONDON — Take That’s Progress Live 2011 Tour reunited the band’s five original performers for the first time in over 15 years, and they played to packed stadiums in the band’s biggest tour to date. But if the tour was big, so was the giant figure of “OM”, a 20m high animated man, brought to “life” as a primitive god-like figure during the on-stage action. In reality, OM was designed and engineered by Brilliant Stages with the expert help of mechanical engineer Andy Edwards.

LONDON — White Light provided lighting gear for DJ Kissy Sell Out’s Wild Romance tour, including 16 Martin MAC 101 moving LED fixtures. Know1 Production, which designed the lighting and video visuals used for the tour specified the gear.

ZLIN, Czech Republic — The Zlín International Film Festival for Children and Youth attracts over 100,000 visitors to see nearly 600 films from more than 50 countries screened over eight days. Along with movie screenings, the festival features concerts, live performances, seminars and lectures, and Robe and Anolis lighting fixtures played a key role in illuminating many of these gatherings.

DOHA, Qatar — Svetlost Teatar of Belgrade provided Robert Juliat HMI profiles, followspots and Solo Fluorescent lighting for spaces within the new Qatar Education City Convention Centre (QECCC).

SYDNEY — “Immersion,” a light sculpture designed by Martin Bevz and Kathryn Clifton, was part of this year’s Vivid Sydney outdoor light festival. Consisting of LED tubes in a semi-circle, the sculpture invited viewers to “play” with them by reflecting their movement through the installation via a live video relay of still and dynamic images. The tubes are pixel-mapped to form what is essentially a very low-res video screen measuring 18 by 2 meters.
