Live performance trailblazer, Björk continues touring her Cornucopia theatrical masterwork globally through 2023. It’s a fantastic example of using lighting inventively to enhance a much larger mixed media picture that captures the varied expressions, emotions, moments, and messages of Björk’s work. The elegant lighting design is co-designed by UK-based creatives Richard White and Bruno Poet.
When the production team of the Hulu series’ “Wu-Tang: An American Saga” had an episode that took place primarily on a tour bus, they brought Carstage, an In-Camera Virtual Effects (ICVFX) specialist, onboard. While dealing with ICVFX for such a large vehicle like a bus may seem daunting, it was something Carstage had already tackled. They also got a big assist from Nationwide Video’s Secaucus, NJ location, which was just a five-minute drive from the filming stage.
When country superstar Tim McGraw hit the road for McGraw Tour 2022, Lighting and Production Designer Patrick Brannon adapted the canceled 2020 design with its Neon inspiration for the outing. Nashville-based Premier Global Production Co. provided the lighting support for Brannon’s designs. The designer tells us how he did it and talks about two new products he put in his rig.

For the 50th Anniversary of Aerosmith, the Boston band wanted to go big, so they decided to throw a party with a one-off concert event at Fenway Park stadium. Lighting Designer Cosmo Wilson was back behind the console along with Video Director Jonathan Beswick to bring to the stage a good ole rock ‘n’ roll concert.
The Swedish rock band Ghost recently wrapped up the third, North American leg of its Imperatour tour for which Brazil-based Lighting Designer, Erich Bertti was once again back designing along with the band’s lead singer Tobias Forge. Also returning to support the Ghost tour and Bertti was Senior Account Manager, Steven “Creech” Anderson and Madison, TN-based Premier Global Production, providing lighting, rigging, truss and crew. Bertti and Anderson fill PLSN in on the design and their working relationship for Ghost’s tour.

BLINK®, Illuminated by ArtsWave, is the nation’s largest light, art, and projection mapping experience. On October 13 – 16, BLINK was back with their first event since 2019, using much of Cincinnati, OH and Covington, KY as a canvas. Run by the Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce (Chamber), BLINK was a four-day, 30 city block, outdoor art experience that unites projection mapping and light-based installations with street art. Float Fest in Gonzales, TX, on the Guadalupe River, combined tubing and live music with musical artists including Marshmello, Vampire Weekend, Cage the Elephant, Deadmau5, Chance the Rapper, Chvrches, among others. Deep South Productions (DSP) was onsite this year supporting Float Fest with lighting, video, audio, backline, and crews. They beat the heat and the dusty desert-like conditions to deliver a successful event.
