LAS VEGAS, NV – AAdyn Technology (AAdynTech) is featuring its latest LED fixtures at NAB 2016. They include three models from the JAB series that promise a 30 percent increase in foot candles and an upgraded version of the Punch Plus fixture (pictured here) that is 50 percent brighter than its predecessor.  All fixtures incorporate DMX, manual in/out or digital remote control.

NEW YORK – USITT’s Rigging Safety Initiative, a program devoted to increasing stage safety at schools across Americ, continues to invite high school auditorium administrators to apply for the free service. Recent inspections turned up problems ranging from “ropes seem loose” to “cable cradle has slipped” to “noisy metal grinding sound.” USITT started the program in 2011 and has since approved over 100 schools for free inspections by its partner rigging companies, which charge USITT a reduced rate. The program is sponsored by JR Clancy, ETC, Shepard Exposition Services, and H&H Specialties, as well as individual donors.

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL — Anastasia Baptist Church upgraded its AV systems with an assist from Guitar Center Professional (GCPro) and GC Pro affiliate AV integrator Sound System Engineering. GC Pro continues assisting the church in refining its media systems and enhancing its ability to communicate its message to attendees. At the church’s Christian Life Center, a 15,000-square-foot sanctuary holding up to 1,200 worshipers, the upgrade includes new video and lighting systems featuring a mountain, tying in with a sermon’s theme.

TORONTO – Keys N Krates announced on their website that their 33-city Midnite Mass tour was going to be a  “ visual extension” of their eponymous EP, which cracked the Billboard Top 20 the week it was released in late February. LD Tom Nguyen included eight Nexus 4 x 4 panels from Chauvet Professional behind blow-through LED video panels.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – April 2016 — WAPA-TV, a station in Puerto Rico that had already incorporated an Avolites Titan Mobile and two Avolites Expert Pro consoles, added an Avolites Arena console as the master controller for its LED-centered lighting system last year. It was sold and installed by Musique Xpress Lights, Inc. of nearby Bayamón, Puerto Rico.

AUSTIN, TX – MTVU’s Woodie Awards returned to SXSW in Austin, Texas where Clay Paky Scenius moving head spotlights made their show debut during the performance of London-based electro-pop artist Jack Garratt.  Tom Kenny also returned for the third consecutive year as lighting designer of the show, which celebrates the music voted best by college students. 

GREENSBORO, NC – Dave Carr, LD for the Eli Young Band, used Chauvet Professional lighting fixtures for the band’s February 20 tour stop at the Cone Denim Entertainment Center in Greensboro, NC. The setup included eight Ovation E-190WW LED ellipsoidals, four Rogue RH1 Hybrids, eight Legend 412z moving wash fixtures and 22 COLORado 1-Quad Zoom Tour par style fixtures.

NEW HAVEN, CT. – Jordan’s Furniture is using Enttec products to beckon customers with a plethora of theatrical LED lighting that complements the retail outlet’s other customer-friendly attractions. Lighting Designer Michelle Caron of Clair Solutions of Manheim, PA relied on Enttec products to control 64 LED fixtures from several different manufacturers via DMX. Enttec’s Datagate MK2 works as a bridge between the lighting controls and any DMX512 device.

NEW YORK – USITT is calling on the backstage community to promote safe stages with the second annual Rigging Safety Day on Arbor Day, April 29.  That Friday, USITT and other organizations will use the hashtag #RigSafe to boost awareness of rigging safety on social media.
