Swiss Planetarium’s Dome Lit with SGM P-5 Wash Fixtures

LUCERNE, Switzerland — Auviso provided SGM’s P-5 wash lights as part of a refurbishment for the Swiss Museum of Transport Planetarium here. The gear was sourced through local SGM distributor ASL. The Planetarium dome is now solely lit by P-5 fixtures. Auviso’s project manager, Patrik Peier, credited the gear for being both brighter and more energy efficient than the fixtures they replaced.

Villa Mix Festival Rig Includes 200 D.T.S. Moving Heads

GOIANIA — The Villa Mix Festival, a Mecca for what has been described as Brazil’s version of “country” music, drew 60,000 fans here recently with seven major artists including headliners Jorge e Mateus, Gustavo Lima, and Bruno e Marrone. Back Light provided 200 D.T.S. moving heads for the eight-hour event, staged at Serra Dourada Stadium. The rig included 60 Raptor, 70 NRG 1201, 36 XR3000 Spot, 26 XR3000 BEAM and 10 Delta 10 fixtures.

Elisa Soars Somewhere Between Dreams And Reality With Clay Paky

ITALY – As part of an elaborate lighting design that included breakaway LED panels, LD Mamo Pozzoli used a variety of Clay Paky fixtures for singer Elisa’s recent tour. “In this mix of creativity and technology, the lights serve to provide order. I use them in a rigid geometric way that is completely functional to the rest of the scene. But this does not mean their role is belittled,” said Pozzoli. “On the contrary, precisely owing to their essential function in the overall set-up, I immediately asked for some of the most reliable lights I know: Clay Paky Alpha Beam 700s, Clay Paky Alpha Wash 700s and Sharpys.”

Wicreations Creates Automated Centerpiece for Music Festival

ANTWERP – Attracting upwards of 20,000 music fans, the Reverze music festival featured a 4.5 by 4.5 by 5 metre high scenic clock. Wicreations was responsible for the clock’s automation which included moving into position to 40 metres off the downstage edge of the stage right amidst the audience, moving vertically, rotating in two directions and splitting into two parts. Clad with LED screens on all sides, the set piece weighed 4.6 tons.

White Light Runners Raise £1000+ for Light Relief Charity

LONDON – A team from White Light raised more than £1000 for Light Relief, the industry charity that provides support for lighting professionals in extreme hardship. The group of 22 runners completed the Richmond River Run in March of 2014. Participants in the run came from White Light departments including Hire, Sales, Events, Technical Service, Operations, Rigging, and Marketing.

LONDON – LD Martin Nicholas is using a lighting rig supplied by White Light for Wet Wet Wet’s U.K. tour. The gear list includes Vari-Lite VL2500 Spots and VL2500 Washes, Coemar Infinity ACL-M beamlights and Martin MAC Viper spotlights, all driven by a grandMA Full Size console programmed by Mark Scrimshaw. Four Robert Juliat Aramis followspots provided the key front light to the performers, while Look Solutions Unique haze machines ensured the lighting, particularly the beams from the ACL-Ms, were clearly visible.

Martin Exterior 400 Projectors Create Fireworks Simulation at Russia’s Belgorod Airport

BELGOROD, Russia — To bring to life its complex fireworks design element, design firm Heliocity Heliocity installed 16 of Harman’s Martin Professional Exterior 400 Image Projectors at the newly built Belgorod Airport. “After analyzing several fixtures, we decided on Martin Professional’s Exterior 400 IP due to its durability and convenient programming capabilities,” commented Anton Karpun, Project Designer, STK Heliocity. “To create the fireworks scene we ordered a special set of gobos for firework imitation. The gobos paired with the Exterior 400’s extremely robust light allowed us to successfully create a beautiful scenography of dynamic color that can be easily activated with a single button.”

Robe Pointes Shine At MIA Awards

BRUSSELS – Robe lights played a vital part of the lighting for The 2013 Music Industry Awards. The rig included 60 Robe ROBIN Pointe and 36 ROBIN LEDWash 800 moving lights for the all-action show that included nine live performances and presentation of the awards. “They gave me so many possibilities in terms of look, colour, etc.” says LD Luc Peumans.
