    NEW YORK – “Motown: The Musical” charts the journey of Berry Gordy from featherweight boxer to heavyweight music mogul responsible for launching the careers of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye and more.  Accompanying the musical numbers are bold video and graphic effects, which required an automation-tracking solution by WorldStage.

    Pete’s Big TVs Supplies Rock Hall of Fame Ceremonies

    LOS ANGELES - Video equipment rental company Pete’s Big TVs supplied the high resolution LED video panels and a video tech crew for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies, held April 18 in Los Angeles. The set, designed by Bruce Rodgers, featured a video wall of 387 digiLED MC7 LED video panels, which spanned the stage at 65 feet wide and 15 feet tall. The event airs on HBO in May.

    CT Stocks Up on 8mm Outdoor LED Product

    LONDON - Creative Technology (CT) will be the first customer to take delivery of the new 8mm outdoor LED product recently launched by Barco's specialist LED division, LiveDots. The C8 investment follows CT's introduction of the C5 and specially developed C16 as its mainstream indoor LED platform in early 2012. The new product is expected to arrive at CT in May. It is expected to be put into service soon afterward at key sports events.

    LONDON - XL Video supplied full video production and crew for the recent UK arena leg of Biffy Clyro’s ‘Opposites’ world tour. The set design from show designer / director Misty Buckley featured an intricate tree-like structure which could morph into of a pair of lungs, complete with the arterial / branch complexity of both structures. LD Oli Metcalfe provided the integrated lighting design.

    Boise State Puts NanoLumens Center Stage

    BOISE, ID — The Velma V. Morrison Center for the Performing Arts at Boise State University selected a NanoLumens LED display to install in its lobby to serve as an information center for patrons. The NanoSlim 4mm LED display measures 6 feet tall by 11 feet wide and complements existing lobby decor while also adding a more modern design element.

    Tait Provides Kinetic Projection Ceiling to Eros Ramazzotti

    Italy - Italian singer-songwriter Eros Ramazzotti opened his 2013 European tour in Italy last month, with Tait helping to bring his set design to life. The show opens with the main stage closed down and covered by the projection ceiling, a custom scenic element that consists of six geometric pieces. Each piece then flies away to reveal Ramazzotti and his band. These elements created a 3-D projection ceiling giving LD/set designer Jvan Morandi the versatility to form striking shapes and aerial effects during the show.

    PARK CITY, UT - Sundance Film Festival organizers commissioned Klip Collective to create the 3-D projection mapping display for the venue’s exterior during their recent event. Klip Creative Director Ricardo Rivera envisioned a “man vs. machine” Steampunk-styled vignette entitled and inspired by the Tom Waits song “What’s He Building in There.” To fulfill the technical demands of the concept, Sundance Film Festival used Barco’s HDX-W18 large-venue projectors to present the show.

    FLUSHING, NY – The US Open tennis classic at Arthur Asche Stadium hit a grand slam the first night of the tournament with an opening night ceremony that set a new standard. For the first time at the U.S. Open, the center court was turned into a giant video board with images of past champions flashing across the court during a high-energy music and light show. The grandMA2 consoles, Clay Paky Sharpy lighting fixtures and MDG hazers played key roles in the show.

Blending art and technology, Gallery One’s Collection Wall is a 40-ft wide multitouch screen comprising two 15-units wide by 5-units tall Christie MicroTiles video walls using the Christie Interactivity Kit. The MicroTiles video wall with another Interactivity Kit is located in Studio Play, Gallery One’s childhood learning zone.

    GoVision Adds Video Screens for NCAA at Cowboys Stadium

    ARLINGTON, TX   – Even with one of the world’s largest LED screens, Cowboys Stadium needed more screens for the 2013 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament South Regionals, taking place March 29-31. GoVision is constructing and suspending a giant four-sided LED screen directly beneath the iconic “Jerrytron” to allow spectators to view the video boards and scoreboards. The regional is a precursor to the 2014 NCAA Men’s Final Four, also taking place at the stadium.
