Video Feature at Swedish Museum Relies on Dataton Watchout

LINKÖPING, Sweden — Sweden’s National Museum of Science and Technology (Tekniska museet) has drawn more than 300,000 visitors with its 100 Innovations exhibition since it premiered in Feb. 2012. One of the exhibition highlights, an hourly screening called “The Brain,” relies on Dataton Watchout multi-image and presentation software along with six projectors that map individual sections of video across a 6-by-12-meter curved video wall display.

Empire State Building Lights Up for July 4 Celebration with Pixel-Mapped Display

NEW YORK — Equipped with new LED gear receptive to pixel-mapped programming, the Empire State Building featured an elaborate lighting design synching the artistry of LD Marc Brickman, music chosen by Usher and the finale of the annual Macy’s Fireworks Spectacular. Brickman relied upon a grandMA2 lighting console and MA VPU plus video processing unit for control for the event. The light show was also synched with radio broadcasts and featured during a two-hour special on NBC.

TAMPA — To support a design by video director Nate Selvidio and production designer Justin Geiger of Impulse Creative Group, Complete Production Resources provided 153 MVP Ta8 Curve panels and 110 MVP 12 panels from Chauvet Professional for Pitbull’s North American Tour 2013. Along with tour partner Kesha, Pitbull performed with video semblances of Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, Mark Anthony and Chris Brown.

Seattle Cinema Installing First Laser Projector

SEATTLE — Christie noted that, with an FDA variance, it will supply and install a digital laser projector at Seattle Cinerama here. Although laser projectors have already been used for special screenings, the 4K Christie unit, which will offer scalable light output of up to 60,000 lumens, will be the first laser projector to be permanently installed. It should be up and running at the Seattle Cinerama Theatre here by early 2014.

Pete’s Big TVs Continue with Backstreet Boys in North America

NEW CASTLE, DE – The Backstreet Boys world tour kicked off its North American leg Aug. 2, again with video equipment rental company Pete’s Big TVs but with a modification in the equipment package and a new video crew. When the tour started May 25 in China, Pete’s Big TVs provided Liantronics PH-8 video panels for the main screen. For this North American leg they are now using the 224 digiLED MC7 7 mm high resolution LED video panels for the main screen, for a configuration of 8 panels high by 28 panels wide.

CT Asia Pacific Orders Barco HDX W20 Flex Projectors

SHANGHAI, China — Creative Technology’s (CT) Asia Pacific operation, based here, recently added a number of Barco HDX W20 Flex Projectors to its inventory. The order followed the recent delivery of a Barco FSN system earlier in the summer. CT also reported a rise in the amount of incoming events into the region, for which it provides video, audio, lighting and rigging services.
