For USITT25, set for Columbus, OH from March 5-8, 2025, USITT wants to spark vibrant dialog among practitioners, educators, and students by offering a wide variety of panels, masterclasses, and more. They are now calling upon designers, technicians, creatives, industry powerhouses, and innovators to submit educational session proposals for presentation. The deadline to submit is July 15, 2024.

The SMA Announces 2024 The Del Hughes Awards

The Stage Managers’ Association has announced its annual Del Hughes Awards for Lifetime Achievement in the Art of Stage Management. The 2024 honorees are Lloyd Davis, Jr., Ed De Shae, and Denise Yaney. In addition, the SMA will honor Mary Hunter with The Founders Award and this year’s Special Recognition Award will shine the spotlight on David J. McGraw and The Stage Manager Survey.

Jane Cox’s Tony Award-winning Lighting Design uses ETC to Illuminate the Darkness of ‘Appropriate’

One of Broadway’s most talked-about plays this season is Appropriate, garnering eight Tony nominations and three wins, including Best Revival of a Play. Written by Brandon Jacob-Jenkins, the show is a portrait of a family unraveling in the wake of its patriarch’s death as three siblings begrudgingly reunite to sort through the detritus of their late father’s Arkansas plantation house. Robe ABTT 2024

Robe UK enjoyed a busy, successful, and positive ABTT (Association of British Theatre Technicians) expo, staged at Alexandra Palace in London, where the company presented two dynamic exhibition areas – a stand upstairs in the main hall, together with a large demo area located downstairs in the venue’s Palace Suite. Robe also delivered four presentations that were integral to the ABTT’s extended 2024 seminar and discussion program, which touched on topics related to sustainability and creative lighting.Read More »Robe ABTT 2024

This past Broadway season boasted some stunning lighting, scenic, projection and costume design work making the voting for the Tony Awards a tough job. The winners of the 2024 Tony Awards for musical and play designs were announced live at the 77th Annual Tony Awards on Sunday evening.

The Theatrical Sound Designers and Composers Association (TSDCA) Announces their Ninth Annual Meeting, to be Held in New York City

The Theatrical Sound Designers and Composers Association (TSDCA) announced their ninth annual membership meeting. On May 18 – 20, 2024, TSDCA will hold three days of public panels and discussions regarding sound design and composition for theatre. The first two days will be held at the Loreto Theater of The Sheen Center for Thought and Culture, and the third day will be held at the Dolby 88 Screening Room.
