Toronto International Film Festival Partners with Christie Digital

TORONTO — Christie, which served as projection partner for the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival last September, noted that nearly all films are now screened digitally, with an increasing percentage seen in ultra-high res 4K format. Christie has been a festival partner for 14 years now. Information on the company’s 2014 sponsorship will be available starting in July. Saddleback Church Uses Absen LED Video Walls for Easter Services

LAKE FOREST, CA — Saddleback Church called CCI Solutions with an Easter challenge. With as many as 35,000 converging at the campus here for holiday services, the church needed LED walls in two of the tents erected for overflow crowds. CGI Solutions turned to Absen to obtain the required 3.9mm LED video gear with a three-week turnaround. The result: a 9.84 by 16.4 foot video wall for Tent 2 and 6.56 by 11.48 foot video wall for Tent 3.

Projection Studio Brings Colchester Castle History to Light

COLCHESTER, U.K. — Projection artist and digital art specialist Ross Ashton of London-based The Projection Studio created three new son et lumière shows for Colchester Castle, making use of a large-format projection on one of the Castle’s internal walls. The visuals were paired with soundtracks created by sound artist Karen Monid. The physical installation was completed by Sysco AV.

James Blunt Tours with Big Curved Screen from XL Video

SAN FRANCISCO — XL Video is supplying a 9 by 9.5 meter (WxH) curved Pixled F-15 LED screen for James Blunt’s Moon Landing world tour along with cameras and PPU, projection and crew. The gear was specified by production designer Paul Normandale, who has been working with LD Glen Johnson and XL Video to support the artist’s visuals since 2005. This fourth world tour is by far the largest to date in terms of production.

EAST LANSING, MI — The Michigan State University Spartans basketball program is getting an AV boost from Christie MicroTiles and a Christie Spyder X20 image processor. The technology was incorporated into a 30-by-5-foot MicroTiles display in a corridor of the Berkowitz Athletic Complex, home to Spartans basketball. Integrated Design Solutions (IDS) and BlueWater Technologies worked on the project.
